Designing Databases

Designing Databases presents an object-role modelling approach to relational database design based on extensions to the Natural Language Information Analysis Method (NIAM). The subject matter includes an overview of an architecture for representing data in information systems, a conceptual model of a database, a step-by-step approach to creating conceptual schema, a method for transforming the conceptual schema into relational tables, and exercises with answers. The text is designed to assist those studying information systems design. It is appropriate for students of the Queensland Senior subject Information Processing and Technology and similar subjects, as well as Tertiary students studying database development.
