The Longman Modern History Series is written for students in the 15 to 17 age group.

Investigating Japan uses the inquiry approach to cover the period between 1850 to 1955, and also covers the early history of Japan in detail. The book deals with the social, economic and political forces which so dramatically changed Japan over the period. Investigating Japan also looks at significant individuals and groups, and the role they played in the transformation of Japan.
